keeping logs with iptables

I have been trying to setup up the SuSEfirewall with
iptables so it will log every connection and every
attempted connection to my box and have been unable
to. Either the SuSEfirewall will not start becuase of
bad syntax or it doesn't log everything.
I Googled for about an hour last night loooking for a
way to log it and have read over the man of iptables.
Does anyone have a good resource for figuring out how
to log connections?
